Can I be my own trustee?

Yes, but it depends on the type of trust.

With a revocable living trust, you can typically be the grantor, trustee, and beneficiary all at once.

For irrevocable trusts used for stronger asset protection, you generally cannot be the sole trustee if you are also a beneficiary, as this can negate the protection.
